This historic property with view near Florence lends itself well to hospitality and would make for a stunning “Residenze d’Epoca,” relais or bed & breakfast in the prestigious Chianti countryside. The property could also easily be divided into several apartments, each with independent entrace and gardens.
Originally the house we see today was a military watch tower built in the 1100s, in a strategic position with 360° views overlooking the entire Pesa river valley in all of its beauty. Over the centuries the building expanded, becoming a convent, before eventually being purchased by the noble Prinicipi Corsini family from Florence, who converted the property into a country farm.
The house, constructed using local river stones, has maintained many unique architectural characteristics inlcuding terracotta floors, exposed oak or chestnut beamed ceilings, stone faced walls, arched doorways framed with the local gray "pietra serena" stone and the original heavy oak doors, often with stone carved coasts of arms above, 7 vast Tuscan hearths or fireplaces, a wood burning oven from the early 1400s, a loggia, and a stone paved courtyard with sandstone columns.
Meticuluous restoration carried out in 1983, restored 785 sqm of the property to high standards, a further 465 sqm has been partially restored, so is structurally sound but sill requires interior renovations.
The property consists of a large main house with central tower arrayed around an internal courtyard. It is currently divided into two primary apartments with a large workshop area on the ground floor and ample cellars, but it would be easy to transform the property into a large single family home or hotel; or else divide the property into 8 apartments.
